The West Midlands Regional Sustainability Forum is an umbrella network of environmental, transport and amenity non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from across the West Midlands region.
From 1997 onwards we provided environmental representatives for the West Midlands Regional Assembly as well as participating in a range of task and finish groups. We also played an active part in the development of the Regional Spatial Strategy and the Regional Economic Strategy.
More recently, following the demise of regional bodies, we have sought to influence the emerging sub-regional bodies, such as Local Enterprise Partnerships, Local Nature Partnerships and Rural and Farming Networks as well as commenting on emerging devolution proposals, such as the setting up of Local Transport Boards
WMRSF has also engaged positively with initiatives such as the Greater Birmingham Strategic Framework, and continues to engage with continuing regional fora, such as Future Network West Midlands and the West Midlands Planning Officers Group.
We press for strong environmental and sustainability policies and call for more inclusive engagement with Third Sector partnership organisation in developing policy. We continue to strengthen our relationships with the West Midlands Biodiversity Partnership, Sustainability West Midlands, statutory environmental agencies and other regional and sub-regional partners from all sectors.
