Progressing a Better Economy in the WM – will be held on 18th October 2012, 5.30pm, Birmingham.
The event will:
– celebrate LWM’s achievements and future
– outline Tim Jenkins’ take on progressing a better economy; exploring how we can progress wider economic change for a more equitable and sustainable economy – including the new economics foundation’s Great Transition initiative.
– discuss what West Midlands civil society and others can do to make change happen including what potential there is for collaborative action.
Tea and coffee from 5.30pm for a 6pm start; (buffet around 7.15pm); at the Midlands Co-operative Society Centre at the Birmingham & Midlands Institute, Margaret Street, Birmingham. [See below for directions from New Street Station]
After the speakers and discussion we will celebrate 10 years of LWM (and into the future!) with a buffet meal from ChangeKitchen. All are welcome but there is a charge if staying for the buffet.
The buffet will be a three course celebratory meal of hot and cold dishes from a diversity of culinary traditions, provided by award-winning social enterprise ChangeKitchen at a cost of £9.00 per head. ChangeKitchen produces truly delicious, sustainable food and trains disadvantaged people in food skills. We are delighted to be working with them in this event and hope you can stay and celebrate with us.
Payment for the buffet (£9.00) can be made by cheque or by Paypal in advance of the event. The speaker event is free, with tea and coffee provided.
Our hosting venue, the Midlands Co-operative Society, also forms part of the new economy and we are grateful for their support.
To book a place, please return the booking form below either by email – or post if sending a cheque (address below).

As you come through the ticket barriers, go straight ahead of you up the escalators into the Pallasades shopping centre. Turn left at the top, then follow round to the left and then turn right and walk down the ramp, taking you outdoors.
At the bottom of the ramp, turn left across the road (traffic lights) onto pedestrianised New Street. Walk along New Street, take the 4th right: Bennetts Hill. Walk up here until you cross Colmore Row and it becomes Newhall Street. Take the first left into Edmund Street, then first right which is Margaret Street. The BMI is on this road on the right, just after Cornwall Street. We are meeting in the Midlands Co-op Centre which is on the top floor.
