Support for communities – low carbon economy programme

Localise WM and Marches Energy Agency are pleased to have been contracted by Sustainability West Midlands to deliver the community strand of the West Midlands Low Carbon Economy Programme.

This will run until December 2011 and will include:

  • Up to 12 community-owned renewable energy projects to be supported in delivery and showcased both regionally and nationally.
  • The development of 40 mentors for similar groups/organisations wishing to implement community-owned renewable energy projects.

Community Strand

With £40k of funding for third sector organisations and community groups Sustainability West Midlands would like to offer:

Tailored support of 5-10 days per project for up to 12 community renewable and/or sustainable energy projects in helping you move towards successful implementation. We have assembled the very best service providers across a range of disciplines and will match their expertise with your needs. We will commission support packages from range of projects at different stages of development, from initial idea to installation. We are running a competition to select the 12 projects.

Mentor training for up to 40 mentors to help promote and spread ideas, best practice and to support the delivery of community renewables projects. Each mentor will receive 2 days of free training and funding support to engage 2 other community groups and/or organisations.

An opportunity to help us build a baseline assessment of current community renewable projects and ideas by completing a simple online questionnaire.
